The Florida Panthers entered the NHL as a new expansion team in 1993 and played its first official game at the beginning of the 1993-94 NHL hockey season. The first year that the Panthers played was actually not a bad one, considering that they were an expansion team. The team fell just one game shy of finishing with a .500 record as they went 33-34- 17 and failed to make the playoffs. Just two years later, Florida found themselves in the Stanley Cup Finals and the Panthers were getting huge fan support in the Miami area as fans came to see them play at the Miami Arena.

In 1998, the Panthers would move from Miami Arena, where they played for the first 5 seasons, to a brand new home in Sunrise FL. named National Car Rental Center (Now the BB&T Center). After just coming off a Stanley Cup Finals appearance just 2 years earlier, fans and management had high hopes for them. Playing in their new arena for the first season in 1998-1999, the Panthers were led by center Ray Whitney who had 26 goals and 38 assists for a total of 64 points. Still, coach Terry Murrey was unable to lead his team into the playoffs as the Panthers finished the season with a 30-34-18 record.

The Florida Panthers have made it to the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs a total of 5 times in the history of their franchise. They have missed the playoffs at a far better clip than they have made it, by not making the post-season 21 out of the 26 years that they have been in the league. Only once in those playoff appearances have they managed to make it past the first round of the playoffs and that was in 1996. Here are the years that the Panthers have made the playoffs:

The Florida Panthers have only made one appearance in the NHL Stanley Cup Finals and that was in 1996, the third year that they were in the NHL. They had a great 1995-96 regular season by piling up a record of 41-31-10 and finishing 3rd in the Atlantic Southeast Division. Florida made it to the Finals by winning their first three playoff series against the Boston Bruins 4-1, Philadelphia Flyers 4-2, and Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3.

The Florida Panthers are headed to the Stanley Cup playoffs for only the eighth time in their 29-year history, and this might be their best team ever, sitting atop the Eastern Conference with only 13 games to go.

The Panthers are the first team to clinch a playoff berth. They locked up their spot Sunday by beating the Buffalo Sabres, 5-3, and are now headed to the playoffs for the third year in a row for the first time in franchise history.

Last year, Florida lost in six games to the eventual-champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round and also lost in six games in the qualifying round of the expanded 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Panthers have not won a playoff series since they went to the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals in their third year of existence.

The Panthers football team will play in the second round of the playoffs this Friday, November 18th at Panther Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers will play the Bentonville West Wolverines.

In fact, the Panthers have reached the playoffs just four times in the more than 20 years since they played in the finals. Sadly, they've become one of the worst teams in the NHL, rarely being a threat to their Eastern Conference foes that have a history filled with far more tradition and history. Fans have stood by them, though, for the triumphant moment that is sure to come someday.

Although the game Saturday between the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs won't make much of an impact on the playoff races -- the Panthers have clinched the division title as well as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and the Maple Leafs are six points ahead of the No. 3 Tampa Bay Lightning -- we'll be watching this one closely to decipher more clues on each club's viability as a Stanley Cup contender.

A case can be made for any of the East's eight teams to make the Cup Final. For the Panthers and Leafs, even getting that far would be a remarkable accomplishment; the Leafs haven't gotten out of the first round since the 2004 playoffs, and the Panthers haven't won a playoff series since 1996. The Panthers' playoff journey will start with a matchup against the East's first wild-card club, currently the Washington Capitals; the Maple Leafs are currently positioned to take on the two-time defending champion Lightning. Money Puck gives the Panthers a 63% chance of making the second round and the Leafs a 64.2% chance.

Washington Capitals fans are encouraged to make their ticket purchases directly from the team. Only tickets purchased through the team are guaranteed to be valid. Fans can purchase their tickets through any Ticketmaster sales channel and also through NHL Ticket Exchange. NHL Ticket Exchange is the only guaranteed secondary ticket reseller, and all tickets purchased on NHL Ticket Exchange are verified by Ticketmaster.

The Buccaneers' offense hasn't been able to generate nearly many explosive plays as it did in 2020 and 2021, and Brady's yards per attempt (6.2) and yards per completion (9.4) would easily be the lowest he has produced since he became a starter in 2001. Brady and Mike Evans, in particular, haven't been able to hook up on as many intermediate and deep balls as they did before 2022. Tampa Bay's defense, one of the best in the NFL at creating turnovers in Todd Bowles' first three seasons with the team, has just 16 in 15 games, tied for the fifth-lowest total in the league. From his 19 previous playoff seasons, Brady knows there are usually multiple issues for a team to overcome in order to make it that far, and that's what the Bucs must do now before it's too late.
